Shelby Hope

I have always been the kind of person who loved to ask the tough questions. Since before I can remember, I have had a strong desire to understand and unpack the meaning of life and all the people we meet in it. As a natural problem-solver on that quest, I always knew I was called to help others in some way. When I graduated college in 2013, people always asked me what I would do with a BA in Political Science & Philosophy. It didn’t take me long to stumble upon Yoga.

I was first introduced to yoga in 2014 during my pursuit to find an alternative workout and form of recovery from my years as a competitive athlete and marathon runner. At this point I had only known yoga to simply be another form of exercise. My interest was piqued when I started to discover the deeper history and philosophy behind yoga, along with the various styles that best honored my body. In September 2019, I took my curiosity to the next level when I began my Yoga Training Certification with the Yoga Center Retreat in Minneapolis. It was here that I continued to unveil not only the physical benefits of yoga, but the spiritual, emotional, and mental benefits as well.

I graduated with my 200 hr teacher certification right in the midst of the pandemic and social unrest. I began teaching yoga virtually for a period of time to my global work colleagues to help relieve the disconnect and dysphoria we all felt. I continued to teach casually to friends and family while furthering my yoga education and achieving my 500 hr teacher certification in 2023.

A yoga practice has many benefits, but my favorite benefit is how effective it is at redeveloping our mind-body connection that is sometimes lost as we live and age. Though I enjoy and welcome teaching all bodies, I am passionate about working with individuals who are seeking to recover the connection with their bodies, whether through body dysmorphia, physical trauma and injuries, or chronic pain.

Yoga is for everyone. In every practice, we are called to honor our individual bodies and minds by offering the support, appreciation, and grace that we deserve.

I am registered as a 500 level Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance. I have continued certifications specializing in Yoga Meditation and Yoga Nidra.

I currently reside in Minnesota with my wonderful husband and my pug Matcha, and we love all forms of outdoor activities including hiking, climbing, biking. In addition to my yoga teaching, I work full-time in Corporate HR where I get to support many different kinds of people all across the globe in both work and personal matters.
